I notice
as I age
that
the spaces within
begin to fill,
not always
wisely.
I find
cruelty,
pettiness,
envy.
The uncertain nature of life
begins
to nudge death,
complaining.
Yet my own
happiness,
small bird,
fledged,
takes flight,
never surrenders.
