Square brick shell
Will be a bank
On a hill
Kept the house
I'm told
To fit in
No bank back then
When immigrants were here
We're the ones who remember
Where drugs were sold
Cold children who didn't thrive
I'll bank on this
It's as the builder says
Banks don't care
Where this land's been
But then
There are some
Like me
Who
Do
(24.338)

Dhamma says
desire
rooted
will come again
when suffering
starts

the heart un-emptied
is anger unleashed
hoarded love
hurts

inside underneath
wax cast
feet heat
turmeric
tastes of

 protection

mother lost it in soup

your feet in flight

do we
protect one another

with this
kitchened history?

for nirmal

1
refug (e) (ee)

we who
would
with one storm
light a dream
believe
water will save us.

2

she
brought
white
shoes
to a red candy bed
sinking into stars
not sleep

As the moon,
waxed,
an old woman
in a wood

stood shoeless,
loosing heat
from feet.

Frost lost.
Woman nearly full.
Sap back.
