I've been shot once
in each arm, vaccines
I ache as I speak on the phone
to my sister
On lockdown Friday
she and one other aide, both mothers,
were left with 300 kids in a fenced-in field,
like a mini-rave
but without cars, or shelter.
The school suggested
they seek cover in classrooms, long meters away
or stay.
I tell my sister about the people running across the field in Israel.
She remembers that part of the fence is weak, recently replaced, cheap,
gauges they can pull it down
run far,
crossing to roads,
find buildings, homes, or fall trying.
I think about her dying.
