lynden between (storms)

lawn lakes
like
dry rot
are
not for walking yet

let two girls
near the pond
lift lilies
looking for frogs

back there
where the sign says keep out
a buck breaking antlers
big eyed
leaps

leaving goldfinch
resting
seed stunned
thistled

air

swallows

water
weed
the feminine
the frogged
abundance
horn
beak
here
we're

what won't stop
listening

not now
not in the midst of it

afterward

Lightening
loosed phloem
bled not red
but sapwood

the heart, still, stilled,
snapped in two

must wait to see if tree
from root to split
will live

p a r c h

Don't let a moment slip by.
-22.315 Dhammapada

it's going to rain.
We dream of
birds in wet nets -
a dozen, more -
caught.
ought to free them before they drown.

the rain never comes.
we remove dreams,
ourselves, nets
yet
the birds still die,
but dry,
parched.

raking daylily
daisy desiccant
under plum
mulberry, an elm
means
seeing
bees
green,
black,
mining
holes
where
their
paths
cross

Now,

Above,
why?
