are my companions.
9.366-367. The Odyssey

Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there’s a pair of us!
Don’t tell! they’d advertise – you know!
260. Emily Dickinson1830 - 1886

Greek has two ways of saying “nobody”. Syntax determines whether the speaker says οὖτις or μή τίς. Both expressions mean “nobody”.  The name of Athena’s mother, Metis (Greek Μῆτις), is is where the pun plays out. Odysseus uses a pun to show his cleverness.
